This DVD takes us back in time to look at shipping in its 20th century heyday, starting with a visit to the ports of South Wales, including Newport, Cardiff &, Swansea.

After this, we’re taken back in time to enjoy a very rare treat as we join the Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessel, Sir Lancelot, (sister ship to the Sir Galahad, lost in the Falklands war). We join her in dry-dock as she is readied for her next operational voyage East, a voyage that allows us to get first-hand experience of just what it was like to have served with the RFA back in those days.

We then once again go back in time to join the Cunard cruise ship the “Cunard Princess” as she sets sail from America’s East Coast on a Caribbean cruise. We get a special welcome from her Captain and officers who show us all over the ship from top to bottom, which adds another dimension to this extremely interesting DVD. The cruise ends with great film of the ship transitting the Panama Canal, a spectacular way to end any cruise.

To end this programme, we show a film of a Houlder Bros bulk carrier battling its way across a very stormy Bay of Biscay.
