The port of Tangier is rather quiet these days. Following the construction of the new port of Tangier-Med in 2007 25 miles to the east, all the cargo traffic has moved from the city port. By 2015 Tangier-Med will be the biggest port in Africa. The old port in Tangier city is being developed into three sections, a new fishing port, a passenger port for ferries and cruise ships, and a new marina. The commercial traffic these days is limited to cruise ships and fast ferries to Tarifa on the Spanish mainland. Here we look at the vessels in port in March of this year.
