Twelve guests of MSC Cruises were confirmed dead following the terrorist attack during a shore excursion at the port of La Goulette, Tunisia on 18th March. The twelve people in question were believed to be 2 Colombians, 3 French, 3 Japanese, 2 Spanish, 1 British and 1 Belgian. According to MSC Cruises, thirteen people were injured in the tragic event, of which two were in serious condition.

The remaining two MSC Cruises’ guests who had been missing after the incident were found safe and well. The 137,936gt/2009 built MSC Splendida had been making a weekly call at the port since 17th December. All subsequent cruise calls by MSC were cancelled. Costa Cruises also confirmed that five guests (4 Italians and 1 Russian) from the 113,321gt/2012 built Costa Fascinosa, were among the victims of the horrific attack at the Museo Bardo in Tunis. In addition, the company said that 8 guests, (7 Italians and 1 Russian), were injured and hospitalised. After this, Costa also confirmed that all subsequent calls to Tunisia have been suspended and replaced by alternatives with other cruise operators doing likewise.
