S1509-06-Celestyal Crystal copy

On 27th June the 25,611gt/1980 built Celestyal Crystal collided with the 24,162gt/2014 built Marshall Islands flagged tanker STI Pimlico. All 852 passengers and the 382 members of crew were reported as safe, as were the crew members of the tanker.

The 852 passenger capacity ship collided with the STI Pimlico tanker, at 0130 local time, near the Northern entrance of the Çanakkale Strait. The collision resulted in structural damages to the bow of the cruise ship and substantial damage to the side of the oil tanker which developed a 15- degree list after an explosion in one of the vessel’s oil tanks.
