At around 17.00 local time on 19th October the 28,138gt/1993 built Pride of Burgundy collided with the breakwater as she approached the port of Calais with a routine sailing from Dover.

A malfunction affecting the rudders caused steering to be lost and the ship struck the breakwater on the port side bow. There were no injuries and the vessel eventually berthed safely prior to being taken out of service for repairs at ARNO, Dunkerque.

Almost one year previously the ship came in to contact with the Rodin as she departed in bad weather and three weeks before this latest incident the ferry went to dry dock for repairs after a leak was found in her hull. Her 20th year has certainly not been her best thus far.
