Royal Caribbean’s 225,282gt/2010 built Allure of the Seas will be taken out of service for one cruise itinerary on 23rd February 2014 and sent to the Grand Bahama Shipyard in Freeport, Bahamas, for repairs to one of her three propulsion motors. Bearing wear in the central propulsion pod prevented the ship from reaching cruising speed in the weeks leading up to this.

Consideration had been given to swapping the dry dock slot of the Oasis of the Seas at Rotterdam’s Képpel Verolme shipyard in October 2014 for her sister, but this will not now be necessary. The Allure’s fault had no impact on the manoeuvrability of the ship or on the safety of guests and crew but it has shortened port calls and increased travel time on Eastern Caribbean itineraries.
