On 24th March the brand new 47,842gt/930 passenger capacity Viking Sea, the second of six cruise ships Viking Ocean Cruises has ordered from Fincantieri, was delivered at the shipyard in Ancona (above).

The first of the series, the Viking Star, was delivered in spring 2015 from the shipyard in Marghera, while the Viking Sky was launched in Ancona one day prior to the Viking Sea’s delivery, and is scheduled for delivery in February 2017. The Viking Sea is the second of six ocean cruise ships on order with the three remaining yet-to-be named ships to be delivered in late 2017, 2018 and 2020, respectively.

The Viking Sun’s keel laying ceremony took place on 6th April at Fincantieri’s Ancona yard involving an 11m long, 28.8m wide and 280 tonne block section.
