Piraeus in 1971. Departing the port is the ferry 1,472grt Oia of Kriton Shipping. She is better known in the UK as General Steam Navigation’s Queen of the Channel, built in 1949 by Wm. Denny & Bros. at Dumbarton. She moved to Greece in 1968. In 1976 she became Leto of Blue Sky Line. On 29th March 1984 she arrived at Eleusis to be broken up by Leodios Kladias.
In the background on the right is the 4,365grt Vikingland of A/B Svenska Orient Linien of Gothenburg. She was built in 1951 by Eriksbergs MV at Gothenburg. In 1977 she was sold to Dioskouroi Cia Naviera SA of Piraeus and renamed Kastor and in 1980 she joined El Shamsi Trading Company of Dubai as Halah. On 18th September 1980 she arrived at Gadani Beach to be broken up by Muslim Rolling Mills.
