Nissan Car Carriers was established in 1965 by an investment by Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. with capitalization of ¥20 million. Transport to North America began in that year. Transport to Europe began in 1970. In 1989 Nissan Carrier Europe B.V., specialising in shipping and ship management, was established in the Netherlands. Today the European fleet consists of seven vessels with a total acpacity of 8,000 vehicles.

The 8,238gt City of Lutece, seen here leaving Southampton, was built in 1981 by Towa at Shimonoseki as the Houju Maru. In 2000 she became Sea Hanna and in 2002 she gained her current name.
