Recife is the centre of administration for the Brazilian state of Pernambuco. The port handles an average of 2.2 million tonnes of cargo annually, the main commodities being sugar, wheat, corn, barley, malt, fertilizers, clinker and kelp. It is also becoming increasingly popular with cruise ships. Here we see four vessels in port in March 2014.
The 92,409gt cruise ship MSC Orchestra. She was built in 2007 by Aker Yards at Saint Nazaire.
The 16,927gt bulk carrier Callio belonging to Narval Shipping Corporation of Greece. She was built in 1982 by Zosensho at Osaka as Cavourella. In 1987 she was renamed Alam Aman and joined her current owners in 2002.
The 8,963gt freighter HR Revolution of Hammonia Reederei GMBH. She was built in 2005 by Daewoo at Mangalia as the Beluga Revolution of Beluga Shipping. She joined Hammonia Reederei in March 2011.
The 22,402gt Bulk Carrier Pretty Lamb belonging to Parakou Shipping of Hong Kong. She was built in 2012 by Nantong Changqingsha Shipyard at Rugao.
