During November plans were announced to spend €10 million on a trio of Costa Cruises’ ships. The Costa Voyager (24,430gt/2000), Costa Classica (52,926gt/1991 – above) and Costa neoRiviera (48,200gt/1999) were all refitted at the Italian port of Genoa in November 2013 as part of Costa Cruises’ on-going investment in quality and sustainability.

The works were to be performed at the San Giorgio del Porto shipyard, one of the international leaders for ship repairs and refitting. The Costa Voyager was expected to visit for around two weeks from 7th November, the Costa neoRiviera (ex-Grand Mistral) visited 7th-12th November and the Costa Classica was present for the period 12th November to 21st December. Work undertaken included the hull and engine section for the Costa Voyager, routine maintenance aboard the Costa Classica whilst the former Iberocruceros ship Grand Mistral received hull and engine work plus renovations to open-air decks and inside guest areas to add to the ambience reminiscent of the Italian and French Rivieras.
