German cruise line Phoenix Reisen has revealed that it will charter a new cruise ship from summer 2016. Currently sailing as the 15,187gt/1997 built World Odyssey for Semester At Sea, the new addition, which is to revert back to the name of Deutschland, will home-port in Bremerhaven, operating various Northern Europe itineraries.

As part of the five year May-September charter, the Deutschland will be repainted into Phoenix Reisen’s house colours, in addition to a major refurbishment which will see French Juliet balconies installed to Decks 7 & 8. The itineraries will bring the ship back to the UK coast, including the Thames and Solent. The Deutschland will continue to operate as the World Odyssey with Semester At Sea each winter season.
