On 5th January 2015 Cruise & Maritime Voyage’s Marco Polo celebrated the 50th anniversary of her launch in 1965. The 22,080gt ship’s milestone coincided with her departure from Tilbury on a 42 night cruise to the Amazon & the West Indies.
In preparation for her anniversary, several of the Marco Polo’s lounges have been lovingly refurbished maintaining the elegant style that she has always shown. Two weeks later CMV announced that it had taken delivery of their new flagship, the Magellan. She repositioned to Greece for dry-docking prior to sailing up to the UK for her various launch events at Tilbury, and Maiden Solar Eclipse & Northern Lights Cruise that departed on 15th March.
The 16,144gt/1948 built Azores officially joined the CMV fleet on charter from Portuscale Cruises on 26th January. The 30-night voyage to the West Indies departed from Plymouth instead of Avonmouth due to tidal restrictions caused by the ship being delayed due to maintenance work in Lisbon. The ship will operate various itineraries in 2015 sailing from Avonmouth, Hull and Liverpool.
