In mid-January the German container shipping company Hapag-Lloyd was nearing a deal to buy Chilean shipping company Compania Sud Americana de Vapores (CSAV).
Under the deal, CSAV will take a 30 percent stake in Hapag-Lloyd but the allocation of CSAV’s 54 ships remained unclear. Hapag-Lloyd already operates a fleet of 152 ships.
