Brittany Ferries announced on 13th October that plans to fit LNG engines to the Pont- Aven, Mont St. Michel and Armorique because of new EU regulations on sulphur emissions had now been dropped.

Instead, the company plans to switch the ships to diesel fuel and fit exhaust scrubbers in addition to the other three to receive this technology (Barfleur/Normandie/Cap Finistère). Brittany Ferries said that the cost cannot be justified and the Project Pegasis LNG powered newbuild has also been cancelled.

To save it from the back burner, reports suggested that the French State would provide 30% of the funds necessary to enable Project Pegasis to proceed, but that is no more. Meanwhile the 26,904gt/2008 built Etretat experienced more technical issues on 28th September after a fuel pump failure off the Brittany coast.

The ship reached Portsmouth eight hours late. A further glitch arose at Santander on 12th October.
