Thanks to a successful summer season French ferry operator MyFerryLink has reported that it broke even thanks to encouraging traffic figures.

Whilst this is good news for the SCOP crews who operate the ships which are leased from the Eurotunnel Group, the operation is still losing money overall. The company carried 93,000 trucks,138,000 cars and 329 coaches June-September. That equates to approximately 41 trucks and 61 cars per sailing, not too many considering the ships being used.

The Eurotunnel Group is awaiting the decision by the Competition Arbitration Tribunal concerning the prohibition decreed by the Competition Commission on it operating any ferry activity out of the port of Dover, a decision which was in contradiction with the opinion of the French competition authority’s decision made on 8th November 2012.
