On 3rd November 2013 LD Lines’ 27,414gt/2007 built Norman Asturias opened a new Santander-Poole-Santander service. The weather was not exactly kind to the operation with disruption having been experienced on several sailings, including the first one from Spain which diverted to Portsmouth.
The sailing from Poole on 22nd December was delayed until 23rd December and then only sailed to Le Havre where the Norman Asturias was united with her 26,904gt/2008 built fleetmate and fellow Visentini built Norman Voyager that operates the former LD Lines service to Portsmouth. The Norman Asturias spent Christmas in the French port before sailings resumed when the weather abated.
From 5th January LD Line’s Bay of Biscay schedule sees a new Poole-Gijón service on Tuesdays (Gijón-Poole on Fridays) and Poole-Santander on Saturdays (Sant-ander-Poole on Sundays).
A new Rosslare-Gijón departs Fridays at 2100 via St.Nazaire since 10th January with the trip to Rosslare via St. Nazaire leaving Gijón on Tuesdays. The direct St. Nazaire-Gijón voyages depart Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays with the return sailings departing on Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The 26,904gt/2009 built Scintu is to be renamed Norman Atlantic during January.
