Cecon has been unable to successfully restructure and has asked a court to declare it bankrupt. The company said other companies it has invested in will continue to operate. Cecon featured in a recent Newbuild of the Month concerning the Cecon Pride.The Meyer family, operating the shipbuilding company Meyer Werft in Germany, and the Turku Shipyard (acquired from STX Europe in September 2014) initially held a 70% share in the Turku yard with the State of Finland purchasing the remaining 30%. The Meyer family has now purchased the outstanding 30% share to own the yard outright.

Svitzer Salvage, a division of AP Moller- Maersk, and Titan Salvage, a division of Crowley Maritime Corp, are merging their salvage operations to create a new market leader. As from 1st May the merger created a new brand called Ardent that will collaborate Svitzer Salvage’s worldwide network of tugs and emergency response experts combining with Titan’s experience in the wreckremoval business.

On 7th May Pasha Hawaii took delivery of the 47,279gt Marjorie C, built by VT Halter Marine, Inc., Pascagoula.
