It was revealed on 23rd June that Fincantieri has signed a Letter of Intent with newly founded Virgin Cruises for the construction of the first cruise ships for this new cruise brand.

The agreement, subject to the satisfaction of the usual customary conditions, is expected to be finalized in the fourth quarter of 2015.

The new ships will be 110,000gt each and will feature 1,430 guest cabins to host more than 2,800 passengers on board, assisted by 1,150 crew members. The delivery is scheduled respectively in 2020, 2021 and 2022.
